JLPT N5 · Grammar
Highlighted parts are the fixed pieces of the pattern; the rest changes with the word you attach it to.
## What it means This is how you connect an い-adjective to the rest of the sentence when you want to describe more than one quality at once, like "cheap and delicious."
## When to use it Take an い-adjective, drop the final い, and add くて instead. 安い becomes 安くて, so 安くて美味しいです means "It's cheap and delicious." The two qualities usually describe the same thing, and they're often both positive or both negative.
## Don't confuse it with Don't use くて when the word is a な-adjective or a noun — those use で instead (see な形容詞・名詞+で). Also watch out for いい ("good"): its くて form is irregular — よくて, not いくて.
