## What it means てから means "after doing ~" — it puts clear emphasis on finishing one action before the next one starts.
## When to use it Attach から to the **te-form** of a verb: 手を洗ってから、ごはんを食べます means "After washing my hands, I eat." Compared to plain te-form chaining, てから makes it very clear that the first action needs to be complete before the second happens.
## Don't confuse it with This looks a lot like plain te-form chaining (て形でつなぐ), and in many sentences either one works. But てから adds a stronger sense of "only after this is done," which is why it shows up in instructions and warnings, like 宿題をしてから、遊んでください ("Please play only after finishing your homework"). Don't confuse it with 〜前に ("before ~"), which describes the earlier action from the opposite direction.
手を洗ってから、ごはんを食べます。
I wash my hands and then eat.
宿題をしてから、テレビを見てもいいです。
You may watch TV after you finish your homework.
仕事が終わってから、飲みに行きましょう。
Let's go for a drink after work is over.
日本に来てから、日本語を勉強し始めました。
