## What it means This is how you compare two things in Japanese and say that one is more of something than the other, like "A is bigger than B."
## When to use it The pattern is A は B より [adjective]. より marks what you're comparing against, and the adjective at the end says how A wins. For example, 今日は昨日より暑いです means "Today is hotter than yesterday."
## Don't confuse it with English puts the adjective in the middle, "A is hotter than B," but Japanese puts it at the very end, so the sentence can feel backwards at first. Get comfortable saving the adjective for last: A は B より 暑いです, not the other way around.
今日は昨日より暑いです。
Today is hotter than yesterday.
電車はバスより速いです。
Trains are faster than buses.
兄は私より背が高いです。
My older brother is taller than me.
この本はあの本より面白いですか。
Is this book more interesting than that one?
東京は大阪より人が多いです。
Tokyo has more people than Osaka.
冬は夏より好きです。
I like winter more than summer.
今年は去年より寒くないです。
This year isn't as cold as last year.
魚は肉より安いです。
Fish is cheaper than meat.
